Metal Chemistry.  We have the capabilities to test and identify a large range of metals.  We have NBS traceable standards for carbon steel alloys, stainless steel alloys, nickel alloys, copper alloys, aluminum alloys and cobalt alloys.   
Our main instrument for metals chemistry is a  Labtest brand Spark Emission Spectrometer (SES).  This instrument is capable of determining all common alloying elements including carbon, phosphorus and sulfur.  The instrument uses a spark source to excite the atoms of the metal sample.  The light emitted by the excited atoms is diffracted by wavelength and measured at the wavelength corresponding to a specific element.  The technique is accurate, fast and backed up by calibration to NBS traceable standards.
Additional  equipment available for metal chemistries include;  carbon and sulfur by combustion analyzers.
